THE RALLYSPORT ASSOCIATION IRISH NATIONAL RALLYSPRINT CHAMPIONSHIP 2010/11 The Rallysport Association, an independent organisation which promotes affordable motorsport in Northern and now Southern Ireland has announced the first ever Irish National Rallysprint Championship to be held at Mondello in 2010/11. These two unique two-day events will take place on all tarmac international circuit stages on Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th November 2010 and the weekend of the 12th and 13th February 2011 at Mondello Park, County Kildare. There will be two totally separate events each day which incidentally are also four rounds of the Northern Ireland Winter Championship and it is planned to have two different, 5 minute all tarmac stages each day used at least three times each and more if time and light permits, so you are looking at about half an hour of competitive stage driving per person each day. Cars will be seeded and let off at between 5 and 10 second intervals, dependant on performance, and with no breaks in the flow of cars onto the stage, and we intend to have a pretty busy stage so the spectators will always have lots of action to see, and with the unique Rallysport Association event formula we expect plenty of no contact, bumper to bumper race battles and with plenty of passing opportunities on the wide section of these new Mondello stages the recipe is for an absolutely fantastic couple of days high action, high revving motorsport for everyone! Each event will have an overall winner and each of the nine classes will have individual winners based as usual on fastest overall times and trophies will be presented at the end of each day. The February weekend will also incorporate the second Inter Provincial Championship where the top ten finishers in each class on the 12th and 13th February WILL ALSO SCORE POINTS FOR THEIR PROVINCE from 15 points for the class win down to 1 point for 10th place. A perpetual trophy will be presented to representatives for the province that has won the most points and they will be crowned the winners of the Irish Interprovincial Open Rallysprint Championship. The overall points scorers from the four rounds of The Irish National Rallysprint Series will also receive the championship trophies at the prize giving after the final round. We would also like to invite historic and race cars to enter these events and if there is sufficient interest we will create additional classes as required. Details will be available on this website as we move closer to the event date.
